    本书收录了冯骥才、蒋子龙、凌鼎年、孙方友、周大新等大陆作家,与陶然、颜纯钩、钟子美、秀实、钟玲等港台作家的作品111篇,并精选了蒲松龄、陶潜、干宝、刘义庆等古人的精短小说10篇,还附录了刘海涛、杨晓敏、凌鼎年、孙方友、周大新、陶然、徐习军等七位作家关于小小说的理论随笔。入选作家既有职业作家,也有终身编辑、大学教授、政府官员及一般工作人员,旨在充分体现小小说属大众文学且来自于大众的特点。所选作品绝大多数都获过文学奖,具有浓郁的中国文化特色,反映了中国普通老百姓的生活和喜怒哀乐。

    作者简介

    Harry J. Huang, also known as Freeman J. Wong, was born in China and currently lives in Toronto. He has authored 130 short short stories published in three collections entitled Nothing Comes of Nothing; Morality, Eh?; and A Bride in Washington. He has also published five textbooks, including Essential College Writing Skills and Refining the Sentence. He has been teaching the Chinese short short story at Seneca College for many years. He has translated more than 100 Chinese authors' short short stories including those collected in this anthology, as well as other literary works. His translation A Cultural Tour Across China published in 1993 was very well-eceived. His translation criterion has influenced many students and translators.
