
ProfessorWangZhaopu,M.D.,bom inJingning,GansuProvince,China,1924, isachief-physicianandprofessoratthe InstituteofOrthopedicTraumatology, ChinaAcademyofTCM,directorofthe researchdepartmentandmemberofthe InstituteExpertCommittee.Heis conversantwithorthopedicsthroughan integratedapproachofChineseand Westemmedicine.Hehasmade outstandingcontributionstothe modemizationofTCMandits disseminationabroad.ProfessorWang receivedtheGovemmentSpecial Allowanceawardin1996. HegraduatedfromtheMedicalCollege ofNationalLanzhouUniversityin1951, obtainedhismasterdegreeattheFirst MoscowMedicalCollegein1953and doctoranddegreein1956.Havingasolid medicalfoundationandin-depth understandingoforthopedictheory,he stressesclinicalpracticeandresearches intractablediseasesusingmodemscientific methodsundertheguidanceofTCM theory.Heisparticularlyskilledinclinical andtheoreticaltechniquesusedtotreat rheumaticarthritis.From1983to1990,he devotedallhiseffortstothestudyof acupressuretherapy.Thesecasestudies providedthebasisforfurtherresearch. HehasbeeninvitedbytheJapanese AssociationofMassageand Acu-moxibustionPractitionersand Australian-ChineseFriendshipAssociation todeliverlecturesonacupressureinJapan andAustralia,contributingtothe intemationalizationofTCM. In1989hisClinicalandPractical AcupressureTherapywaspublishedby PublishingHouseofAncientTCMWorks. AnEnglisheditionofChineseAcupressure TherapywillbepublishedbyForeign LanguagesPressin1999.AnEnglish editionofAcupressureTherapy,Point PercussionTreatmentofCerebralBirth Injury,BrainInjuryandStrokewas publishedforworldwidedistributionby ChurchillLivingstoneinEnglandin1991. |
