| The new edition of the Lado English Series is a complete six-level course in English. Eachlevel is carefully graded and consists of a Student Book, Workbook, Teacher s Edition, andAudio Program. The main objective of the series is to help students understand, speak, read,and write English and to use these four skills for meaningful communication and interaction. The new Lado English Series takes a balanced approach to teaching and learning./It offers awide variety of techniques and activities -- including conversations and discus~ons, studyframes and contextualized grammar exercises, listening and interaction activities/reading androle plays -- to help students learn English. The revised Student Bookformat features a larger type size, bigger pages, updated and extended content, and new art.For greater convenience, the Listening, Read, and Pronunciation sections have been movedfrom the Workbooks to the Students Books. Cassette symbols appear throughout the StudentBooks to identify the recorded material. The exercises in the six Workbooks correspond to and complement the material covered inthe Student Books. They offer additional exercises to help students master the material ineach unit and focus on vocabulary, reading, and writing. In this new edition, controlledcomposition appears in all six Workbooks. In addition, review units with pre- and post-inventory tests are now included at the end of each Workbook. Answer~to all Workbookactivities can be found in an answer key at the back of the Teacher s Edition.Notes to the Teacher Workbook 6 has ten units that correspond to the ten units in Student Book 6. The units aredivided into the following six sections: Complete, Write, Read, Word Game, Vocabulary inContext, and Composition. The units are designed to strengthen the development of thedifferent language skills. All activities can be done either as classwork or homework. Each unit begins with a Complete section, which the students should do after they havemastered the conversation that opens the Student Book unit. ~ Have the students look at the pictures to recall the situation. Teachers who are doing the activity in class may wish to ask individual students to identify the characters. Another option is to read aloud the description of the situation given in the Teacher s Edition. ~ Ask the students to read the conversation silently and then complete it, either in class or at home. Encourage them to examine the pictures closely and use the information in them. ~ Have the students check their answers by looking at the corresponding page in the Student Book. If you are doing the activity in class, an option is to read the complete conversation aloud or play it on cassette so that students can check their answers aurally before looking in their books. The exercises in the Write section reinforce the structures taught in the Study frames.Students should do these exercises after completing the corresponding Practice section in theStudent Book. In this new edition, the Write section has been ~panded so that all of thestructures are thoroughly practiced in the Workbook.
