Richard Proenneke was a master of woodcrafts and camp craft, a keen observer of the natural world, a mechanical genius, a tireless hiker, and a journalist for more than thirty years. He lives a storied existence in a small log cabin he built in the Alaskan wilderness. An active yet reluctant participant in the epic struggle to protect some of Alaska's wild lands for future generations, Proenneke kept meticulous journals of his time in the wilderness, some of which has already been published in the highly successful "One Man's Wilderness". This collection, edited by Proenneke's longtime friend, John Branson, covers the years 1974 through 1980 and describes his time at Lake Clark, the rehab and restoration at Twin Lakes, and how he managed to live harmoniously with the natural world.
