    This book will provide prescriptive report design guidelines and step-by-step instructions for creating various report types using a recipe format. Each report recipe will be 5-15 pages, in a standard format; including the purpose, report scenario, design elements, detailed build steps, and summary.

    The book is based on a popular session the author has presented at the Professional Association for SQL Server (PASS) over the past two years. For this book, he has recruited 12 of the top Reporting Services design experts---most of whom write, speak, and blog on design issues---to contribute recipes to this book (some previously published by them in scattered sites, and others original).

    The book begins with a quick overview of Reporting Services, and general design concepts. Part 3 of the book present the recipes, organized by specific types of report requirements, including: Grouped reports Charts Composite reports Dashboards Forms and labels Interactive reports.

    The author also covers such topics as localization, data sorting and filtering, handling dynamic data sources, and more. The book's companion website will provide samples of all of the design solutions found in the book. Note that this book present design solutions that can work with any release of SQL Server Reporting Services.

    作者简介
    Paul Turley is a business intelligence solution architect and manager for Hitachi Consulting. He is a Microsoft MVP and Certified Trainer. He designs solutions and teaches classes on SQL Server technologies to companies around the world. Paul is the author of several books, including Professional SQL Server Reporting Services (2000/2005/2008). Robert M. Bruckner is a technical lead with the Microsoft SQL Server product team. His core area of responsibility is the development of the report processing engine of Reporting Services.
