Gr 1-2–Several cartoon critters hike (Forest) and scuba dive
(Odyssey) through forest scenes and undersea neighborhoods in these
titles. Mitton's tidily rhyming texts point out that “Black bears
are good at climbing/Just see how well they do./These bears are
fetching insects/and pinecone nuts to chew” and that “A giant squid
looks scary….” Parker's illustrations give quick impressions of
moose and gulper eels. A final page in each book presents a bunch
of creatures not mentioned in the texts but depicted in the bright
spreads, asking, “Did you find…/see…,” and calling for a second
perusal in a quick location game. No additional data for any of the
