Asian Diasporas: Cultures, Identities, Representations

This multi-disciplinary volume seeks to understand Asian Diasporas by examining the wide range of cultural documents which play a role in constructing diasporic identities. Drawing on theories, data and texts from literature, media, urban studies, popular culture, the military, and related documents, the essays in this volume examine the key issues involved in the construction of Asian diasporic identities. The main focus is on the cultural documents, representations and acts of constructions pertaining to the South and East Asian diasporic movements, and on the problematic negotiations of such essentially hybrid and conflictual identities.
