内容简介

The 'Midnight Life in Chinatown' was written following an article in the Boston Herald on July 7, 2008 about the police cracking down on prostitution; the article unfairly emphasized only transgender prostitutes. On July 17, 2008, an article in Bay Windows had an editorial response that the Herald article was insulting to all trans-genders, regardless of the reasons for being involved with prostitution, the prime example being economic reasons. It would be difficult for ones to understand why someone earns his/her way of life with prostitution when they are the outsiders who don't know the reasons behind the necessity. If economics is the main reason for engaging in prostitution, as people understand, for a transgender it's just a small part of the big picture. If midnight is cold and silent, the midnight of the stories of Boston's Chinatown's will wake you up with fiery and fun depictions of life as a transgendered prostitute. At the beginning, Angelina, Nicole, Jessica, Paris and Lilly - a group of transgender prostitutes (in the story), are telling you their intense stories chapter by chapter, far beyond the general knowledge of the life of nightly working girls. Their lives, day after day, are involved with the risky games and tricks, of the prostitution trade. Yet, they are unprotected by the law, even when they are the victim(s) of crimes. Tactics from clients trying to take advantage of their services without realizing that this group of trans-genders are struggling to survive will make you laugh and cry with sympathy. In the unexpected ending, the funniest story involves the unique strategy of a famous undercover detective spying on prostitutes at a transgender nightclub until it becomes chaotic and noisy.
