
| Susan Miho Nunes was born in Hilo, Hawaii, and lived in Hawaii until her recent move to Berkeley, California. "The Last Dragon", her first book for Clarion, was inspired by a magnificent dragon's head in a Honolulu shop window. "My mother used to say that the problem with children is that in time they wipe out your history," she says. "Indeed, here in America that history is sometimes lost in the great brew. On one level, "The Last Dragon" is about a child who discovers something unique about his culture."Chris K. Soentpiet was born in Seoul, Korea. When he was eight, he and his older sister were adopted by an American family and moved to Hawaii, then later to Portland, Oregon. He received a B.F.A. in illustration from Pratt Institute. Mr. Soentpiet lives in Brooklyn, New York, with his wife. |
