The development in importance of many new areas in the law and the coverage of certain aspects of the subject of suretyship in other courses have partially accounted for the gradual shortening by most law schools in the time allotted to this subject; nevertheless, the problems of a transaction whose history reaches back into antiquity and is found in all civilizations and systems of law should receive some treatment. Contains materials on property security but excludes most of the personal property security devices found in Article 9. An exception is the retention of material on the subject of priority of security interests in fixtures.
