作者简介 Dr. Gaines is a professor and chair of the criminal justice department at California State University at San Bernardino. His police experience is with the Kentucky State Police and the Lexington, Kentucky Police Department. Additionally, he served as the Executive Director of the Kentucky Association of Chiefs of Police for 14 years and is a past president of the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences. He has authored a number of books focusing on various aspects of policing and crime, including Policing in America, Police Supervision and Management in an Era of Community Policing, Community Policing, and American Youth Gangs at the Millennium. His current research agenda centers around the evaluation of police programs and tactics in terms of their effectiveness in combating crime and disorder. He is also researching homeland security and its effects on local police departments.^Roger LeRoy Miller studied at the University of California at Berkeley and the University of Chicago and has served on the faculty of several universities, including the University of Washington, Clemson University, and the University of Miami School of Law, where he taught intellectual property law, entertainment law, and other subjects. He has also published widely, with work featured in the Insurance Counsel Journal, Defense Research, California Trial Lawyers Journal, Antitrust Bulletin, Wisconsin Law Review, and Connecticut Law Review. In addition, Miller has authored or coauthored numerous textbooks, including BUSINESS LAW: TEXT & CASES?LEGAL, ETHICAL, GLOBAL, AND CORPORATE ENVIRONMENT; THE LEGAL ENVIRONMENT: TEXT & CASES?ETHICAL, REGULATORY, GLOBAL, AND CORPORATE ISSUES; BUSINESS LAW TODAY; and THE LEGAL ENVIRONMENT TODAY. |
