Beijing's 50-year-old Capital International Airport is getting a makeover.Not just a routine facelift,mind you,but a full-blown overhaul with the construction of the new Terminal 3.Its addition will increase the airport's annual passenger handling capacity to 60 million from almost 45 million in 2006.It also will let the airport handle 1500-1600 flights per day on average during the Olympic Games nest August,up from its current daily capacity of 1100 flights.The terminal will include a light rail station for the new 28-km line to downtown Beijing and use the lastest technologies to move people and baggage and process flight information.The makeover comes just in time for the influx of Olympic athletes and visitors expected next summer,as well as increased numbers of tourists and business people looking to profit from the country's rip-roaring economy.
