No thoughtful person, after reviewing the evidence, canbelieve that this one man, James Earl Ray--who had bungledvirtually everything he had ever tried, including criminalactivity--acting alone, killed Martin Luther King, escapedduring the evening traffic rush in Memphis on April 4,1968,traveled to Canada and England with internationalpassports, avoided an international network in search ofhim, and was ohiy caught sometime later. Such a scenariostrains the imagination, not to mention the reasoningprocess. I have never accepted the "one crazy man" theory ofpolitical assassinations. I certainly do not accept such atheory with regard to James Earl Ray and Dr. Martin LutherKing Jr. I have always believed that there was a conspiracyinvolved in Dr. King s assassination. I have always believedthat the government was part of a conspiracy, either directlyor indirectly, to assassinate him.
