Also， the fact that I work as a systems engineer helps me to appreciate the sophistication of what these people have done， and allows me to describe it to you. Life is not simple. Things are not always what they appear to be. As a young girl， I was entertained by books and movies of a mysterious nature， fascinated by intrigue. Are you like that too? Are we moths， fluttering around a flame? I ll bet you re wofidering about me now， and what sort of story I have to tell. WetS， I ve got a lot in common with Connie. We re both Black women from the Caribbean， we ve both become New York City girls， and now even our friends and enemies are the same. That， incidentally， includes someone who daily professes love and devotion to me alone. Ha! This story begins with Phil. I m not deferring anything to him; that s just the way the story goes. He s important to this story， and to Connie Fortune. ~o
