For us, 1980 will always be our \"family summer\" when we had two weddings and a birth. In two months three new members were added to the family--Susan Scott, who became our son Chester s wife; Philip Lader, who married our daughter Linda; David Christopher, born to Edith and Peter Marshall. Susan and Chester s wedding was in Chattanooga, Ten- nessee on August 9, with Susan, blonde and lovely; six bridesmaids; Peter Jonathan Marshall, age six, proudly carrying the rings on a satin pillow ds he marched down the aisle beside the petite flower girl; Len as Chester s best man; Jeffrey standing beside him as head groomsman. After that, we took a deep, collective breath and plunged into preparations for the second big event. In the crowded days preceding Linda s wedding in Washington on September 21, she asked one day for some special time alone with me.
