    内容简介

How toUse This Book FAMILY LEGAL GiSIDE is arranged in alphabetical order so that you can use thefbook in the same way you would any dictionary or encyclopedia. Simply look upthe word you want in the A-Z section of the book. The titles of all of the 2,600 articlesare printed in large brown type to help you spot the one you want quickly and easily. If the topic you are looking for is not one of these A-Z articles, it does not meanthat the subject is not covered in the book-legal terms are often very different fromordinary everyday language. Turn to the special index at the back of the book, whichwill lead you from an everyday word or phrase to the article or articles that will give ..2: /you the legal information you need. / P Use of the index There is no article in the A-Z section for the word loan, fog example, but if you look up loan in the index, one of the articles to which it will Send you is secured transaction, which is the legal term for a loan in which you pledge personal property as collateral. The index will also list all the other articles in which loans are discussed, such as banks and banking, consumer protection, and credit. As another example, let us say you had an accident while driving a borrowed car. If you look up the word "automobile" in the index, you will find a reference to ,,automobile-borrowed car." This will take you to the article baihnent, where such a situation is discussed. Organization of articles for easy reference As you turn through the pages of the book s A-Z section, you will notice that the longer articles have been divided by headings into short, easily identifiable sections. If the discussion under a particular section is fairly long, the topic is further broken down into two or more subheadings, each of which may have still other subheadings. For example, the first heading in the article consumer protection, on page 202, is ~ Terms of a consumer transaction. The black square before the heading means it is a major heading. The boldface subheadings below it without the square-from Credit to Refinancing-discuss the different terms of a consumer transaction. Topics covered in even greater detail below a subheading are headed by boldface italic tides, such as Express warranties and Implied warranties under the subheading Warranties. If you look fit this sequence in reverse, you will see that express and implied warranties are two types of warranties, that a warranty is a term of a consumer transaction, and that the terms of a consumer transaction are a topic under the entry consumer protection. After all the terms of a consumer transaction have been discussed, another general heading is introduced by a black square: ~ Service contract- This cycle of general headings and specific subheadings is repeated until all the topics under consumer protection have been covered. If the article is a very long one, as is consumer protection, you should be able to spot the specific subjects you want simply by glancing through the article for the ~ appropriate heading.
