Now， to be sure， these three basic
sections of your job-hunting or career-
changing road will be traveled in a
slightly different way， depending on your
goals. If you ultimately become sure
that you want to go into business for
yourself， then the HOW will consist in
identifying all the people who have
already done something like the thing
you are thinking of， so that you can go
interview them and profit from their
learnings and mistakes before you set
out on your own. And the HOW may
consist in identifying the potential cus-
tomers or clients who would use your
services or buy your product.
But， adaptation aside， you WILL need
to travel all three sections of this basic
trunk road， regardless of where you plan
to end up. The only exception to this
rule， is if you plan on staying at the
same job and in the same organization
where you presently are; and you are
using fhis tvrap only to get a better
picture of yoL~trengths. In this case，
you will omit bh~e HOW picture--but will
still need to travel the WHA-f and
WH ERE sections of the road.
