| The Siberian Husky is a medium-size working dog. His characteristicgait is free and effortless, with great pulling strength. Pound for pound, he isthe toughest draft dog in existence. It is as natural for the Siberian to workin a team of sled dogs as it is for a Pointer to point birds or a Beagle to runrabbits. He has a moderately compact body. His coat is soft and smooth, with adowny, dense undercoat. His coat is of medium length, but the generaloutline of the dog is ciear-cut, without shagginess. A mature male dog weighsbetween 45 and 60 pounds and a female between 35 and 40. Average heightfor a male is between 21 and 23~ inches; for a female, the average height isbetween 20 and 22 inches. His tail, shaped like a neat, furry brush, is carriedin an open curve when running or standing at attention. It trails out behindwhen he is working oi" resting. When carried up, the tail does not snap flat tothe back or curl to either side. |
