he purpose of this book is to provide ac- cess to the available information, as well as the full range of thought, on sexual ha- rassment in employment and education. It is not intended to promote any particular view, except the view that all commentators should be heard and considered. Historical and factual background information is of- fered, along with resources for further explo- ration into the legal, social, psychological, and political aspects of sexual harassment. Because this work gathers together a wide array of information not available in any other single source, it may prove helpful to many different people--students, research- ers, writers, journalists, historians, and ac- tivists, as well as individuals who are inter- ested in clarifying their own thoughts and feelings about sexual harassment. In this fast- changing and evolving field, however, be aware that any single source mentioned may be out-of-date by the time you read this book. A particular attempt has been made to include writers and activists who question the whole idea of the imposition of legal or social penalties for what is called sexual harassment. Such voices are few and have been difficult to identify, because there is a lack of expression of what seems to be an increasingly unpopular viewpoint.
