II1: LIP Is All Of You Here? One for the money, two for the show, three to get ready--on your mark, get set--warming up. Children know about it: so do dancers, singers, musicians, and athletes. People in love understand it and so do people who drive cars and people called astronauts. Warming up--a getting ready process, a transition from before to will be, the end of something, the beginning of something else, a bridge. Everyone needs warm-ups but not everybody knows that. At 8:30 A.M. in Room 3 Mrs. Pinkerton s second graders are showing and telling. Mrs. Reece s class in Room 6 is not. Everybody gets right down to business. Robert s in math but he can t concentrate. He s still in social studies, where he s not supposed to be. It was over at 10 A.M. Mondays are cold and so are 8 o clocks. Fridays and 11:30 A.M. are pretty warm. Maybe these words are warming up your page as they go along, and the pages will warm up the book. Try some of the games and exercises. See if they warm you up. See if you feel more like you. This whole book is a warm-up, by the way. As you read, you ll find questions, experiences, and things to do. Keep a journal of what you think and feel about what you do. Invent something of your own.
