| Congressional Quarterly Inc., an editorial re- search service and publishing company, serves cli- ents in the fields of news, education, business, and government. CQ has earned a reputation for objec- tive and non-partisan analysis of current politics and government. Congressional Quarterly was founded in 1945by Henrietta and Nelson Poynter. Its basic periodi-cal publication is the CQ Weekly Report, mailed toclients every Saturday. CQ also publishes a variety of books includingcollege political science texts under the CQ Pressimprint, public affairs paperbacks, and referencevolumes. The latter include the CQ Almanac, acompendium of legislation for one session of Con-gress that is published each spring, and Congressand the Nation, a record of government for a presi-dential term that is published every four years.Other reference books include CQ s Guide to Con-gress, CQ s Guide to U.S. Elections, and CQ sGuide to the Supreme Court. In addition, CQ publishes The CongressionalMonitor, a daily report on activities of congres-sional committees, The Congressional RecordScanner, an abstract of each day s CongressionalRecord, and Congress in Print, a weekly listing ofcommittee publications. CQ also publishes newslet-ters, including Congressional Insight, a weeklyanalysis of congressional action, and CampaignPractices Reports, an update on campaign laws anddevelopments, published every other week. CQ s Direct Research performs contract re-search and maintains a reference library and querydesk for cl~nts. CQ also operates training andinformation seminars for persons interested inlearning more about the federal government. Editorial Research Reports covers subjects be-yond the specialized scope of CQ.
