| Absolute consistency of results - producing adesired picture with every click of the shutter - isnot necessarily an ingredient of photographic expertise. Even top professionals make mistakes. But onecharacteristic that sets the expert apart from mostamateurs is an unerring sureness of intention. Thebest photographers are fully aware of the effect theywant to achieve, of the compositional and technicalmeans for achieving it, and even of the uncontroll-able variables that might, at worst, sabotage theappearance of the picture.
