today s busy mothers and fathers tell me they often
feel overwhelmed by the fact that they only have
twenty years or fewer to fulfill this responsibility
and that there is no second chance to get the job
done. They often feel inadequate too. They worry
when newspaper feature stories report that children
are sometimes easily led into witchcraft or some
other awfill path and that parents sometimes must
pay thous;ands of dollars to kidnap mixed-up young
people back from cult groups. Many parents sense
that a child who grows up with a strong biblical
knowledge and with a faith that produces helpful
resources in times of trouble is not so likely to be
enticed by every new religious wind that blows
past. But how does one accomplish this awesome
task?
