Introduction Making a quilt can be an exhilarating experience--whether you are making a quilt which is your own unique design or one which was in- spired by a quilt which you saw in a book or at a quilt exhibit. Either way, to translate your design into a reality, you must answer the follow- ing questions: What templates do I need to make? How much fabric do I need to buy? Many books on quilt making are frustrating to use for they assume that the reader knows the answers to these questions. In our previous books, The Patchwork Quilt Design & Coloring Book and Patchworking, we provided detailed instructions on how to deter- mine what templates you need and the necessary yardage to buy. But these instructions only covered the quilt designs included in our books. The response to our techniques was strong, enthusiastic, and our read- ers requested more. So because yardage calculation is a tedious and time-consuming task, we decided to compile a comprehensive yardage chart book which will enable quilt makers who are using square, rectangular or triangular tem- plates to easily look up the required yardage for templates ranging in size from as small as ] inch to as large as 25 inches, in 1/2-irlch incre- ments. All the charts in this book were generated from an Atari home com- puter program which was written for us by Anthony J. Capato. Using this program, you can determine the yardage requirements for square, rectangular or triangular templates of any size. If you have an Atari com- puter with a disk drive and would like to have a copy of this program, simply send s check for $15.00 to Dekotek, Inc, P.O.
