| Our purpose in writing this book is to provide the health care professional with apractical, usable, and effective handbook for client assessment in the home. Ageneral overview of health assessment in the home is presented in Chapter 1 toguide the practitioner through the basic areas of the assessment process. Followingthat, the client health history and the general survey are discussed in Chapter 2with emphasis on points specific to home care. We believe that health assessment is an integral component of nursing practicein any setting but that there are particular areas of the assessment that are unique tothe home environment. These areas include assessment of self-administeredmedication, the home environment, and learning needs, which are covered inChapters 3 through 5. |
