| From Library Journal Careful monitoring of food intake and blood sugar levels is critical to the control of diabetes， whether or not the disease requires insulin treatment. The familiar Food Exchange Lists used since 1950 to plan diabetic meals rely on precise measuring of portions and often result in an overly rigid and restrictive diet plan. TAG stands for total available glucose in foods. The system assigns values to food items based on how much sugar they supply. Most of this book is devoted to confusing tables and calculations of TAG values in various foods and meals; what text there is seems simplistic and unclear. There is no bibliography， reference list， or other documentation. A far better choice is Julian M. Whitaker's Reversing Diabetes ( LJ 10/15/87).- Karen McNally Bensing， The Benjamin Rose Inst.
