"What I wanted when I was ten, eleven, or twelve yearsold was a home, a child, the little white cottage with theivy growing around the door, little roses outside, and a lit-tle baby sitting in a high chair, and I was horrified that Iwould never have it because this horrible bomb was goingto come and wipe it all away." School was not Myra's finest moment. "It was like, let'sget this show over with let's get on with something that'sreal. I wasn't real popular in school. One year when I wasin the sixth grade, we moved in the middle of the schoolyear. The girls had this little clique, and all of a sudden Iwas the new kid on the block and the word was, 'Don'ttalk to her and don't play with her.' And nobody wouldcome near me. I felt like the ugly duckling. I retreated offinto myself and my own little world." One evening when Myra was in the seventh grade, hercousin, Jerry Lee Lewis, came for dinner. He had re-corded a song, "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On," and it hadmade him a rich and famous rock and roll star, with morewomen after him than he could shake a stick at.
