Because the Revolution andConstitution stand at the foundation of the history of the United States andare central to establishing the legitimacy of American political and socialviewpoints, Americans of all regions, classes, and origins have argued abouttheir significance for generations. The events themselves are complex andmultifaceted; moreover, they have been susceptible to diverse interpretations that are at once reasonable yet conflicting.
