I'M NOT A NATIVE FLORIDIAN, ALTHOUGH SOME WOULD SAY OTHERWISE.The general rule of thumb is that if you live in Florida for more than 10 years, you're a native. I've been here more than fifteen. As a born-and-bred New Yorker, I was reluc-tant to come at first, but I love it now. It's cool here--even if the temperature and humidity can occasionally make you think you're in purgatory. This state has more personalities than Shirley MacLaine, and contrary to popular belief, Florida is not just for retirees and Jennifer Lopez.
Whether you're into boating, fishing, camping, 'blading, boozing, or doing absolutely nothing, you'll find it down here, along with a fascinating mix of people from all cultures and walks of life.
