What Anger Is All About In these liberated times, men and women come into my office and in the most matter-of-fact way describe their sexual behavior. They talk about techniques, positions, partners. They tell me about their orgasms and their impotency, their fantasies and their infidelities. But when the talk turns to anger, many of these same people clam up. Or else they squirm in their chairs, gaze off into space and speak haltingly, hes- itating over every other word. Often, shame and embarrassment cloud the recounting of an angry incident. And some people tell me they \"can t even remember\" the last time they felt anger (they ve pushed it so far down). Sex and sexual feelings are okay now. Respect- able, at least in the sense that most people can own up to what they do and don t do, feel and don t feel. But anger is the dirty word. The ob- scene topic. The unacceptable, unrespectable feel- ing.
