He was at the bar, and I was the only customer sitting at a table. There were two or three other gents ranged ul; alongside him, and I was just trying to figure out if he wa~ part and parcel of them when he pushed away from th~ bar and come walking my way. Well, it wasn t nothing I hadn t seen before. So I jusl kind of pushed my chair out a little and kind of turned t~ my side, freeing up my right side where my holster was. He come walking toward me. He was about my height.. a little over six foot, but appeared to weigh a touch more than my 185 pounds. He was dressed in a rough butternul shirt and a pair of shotgun chaps, as many men of that country were. That wasn t what got my attention; it wa~ the well-oiled, cut-down holster with the well-set-up re- volver he was wearing on his right side. He come up to my table, me watching him every step, and stopped. He said: \"You mind if I set down? You don t know me, but I know you.\" I said: \"Well, I don t know about you knowing me. Bul make yourself comfortable.\"
