"Remarkable new edition. Most useful to all universities in Europe. This book remains a must for each one of our students in cross-cultural management."- Professor Dominque XardelESSEC Graduate School of BusinessParis"Harris, Moran, and Moran have constructed an extremely valuable network of resources for the multicultural manager. They provide new pathways to competence on a global scale grounded in empirical research and illustrated by fascinating stories and examples throughout. They guide readers towards an accurate awareness of their own cultural identity relative to others, meaningful knowledge about the facts and information necessary to comprehend each cultural context, and appropriate skills to take action and make decisions that will benefit all parties. The authors have more than succeeded in their goal to "understand our differences, celebrate our diversity, and create partnerships of long-term mutual benefit.""--Paul B. Pedersen, Professor Emeritus, Syracuse University, Visiting Professor Univ of Hawaii, Dept of Psychology"This is an excellent book that expertly covers the most important essentials for effective cross-cultural communications and global enterprise. Broome, Professor, Intercultural Communication, Arizona State University"When I read this book again, I realized how important it is as a leader and a "citizen of the world" to understand the impact of culture on our lives and global events. In my work as a leader, I experience the need for employees to be culturally literate and skilled in order to perform effectively. No matter how many times I've read or referred to this book, it feels like I'm reading it for the first time again. I believe this is because I continue to have new cultural experiences either through work, travel, or political events which bring added richness to the concepts presented. As you become more aware of culture, you realize its impact on our lives and world events."-- Kim Lipshutz, HR Director, Crop Genetics Research, DuPont Agriculture and Nutrition"This 6th edition of the MCD textbook contains a rich combination of scholarly insights from the literature on the management of cultural differences with extensive examples from contemporary business practice. Instructors who have used previous editions will be delighted with the new materials that bring the text up to date, while those who adopt it for the first time will soon realize why the book has been so useful for the past 24 years."-- Joseph D'Cruz, Murray B. Koffler Chair in Pharmacy Management, Rotman School of Management and Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Toronto--This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

内容简介

This new edition of a business textbook bestseller has been completely updated to reflect the numerous global changes that have occurred since 1999: globalization, SARS, AIDS, the handover of Hong Kong, and so forth. In particular, the book presents a fuller discussion of global business today. Also, issues of terrorism and state security as they affect culture and business are discussed substantially. The structure and content of the book remains the same, with thorough updating of the plentiful region and country descriptions, demographic data, graphs and maps. This book differs from textbooks on International Management because it zeroes in on culture as the crucial dimension and educates students about the cultures around the world so they will be better prepared to work successfully for a multinational corporation or in a global context. * The original, best-selling guide to developing cross-cultural skills to succeed in the global economy* More than 200,000 copies in print, adopted by more than 200 universities worldwide* This classic has been praised as a bible of multiculturalism (New York Times News Service)
