The arts of spinning, dyeing, weaving and embroidery are practiced in hundreds of rural communities where indigenous peoples retain distinctive clothing styles, sometimes mixing this with post-Colonial influences. The author draws on her extensive travels in Mexico to provide a living context for these varied textiles.
