| 在编写教材的过程中，全体编写人员始终坚持将《基本要求》规定的教学目的与教学要求和《考试大纲》规定的考试内容结合起来，将教学与考试的分级制和学生的实际状况与需要结合起来。《基本要求》规定的教学目的是：通过教学，使学生掌握一定的英语基础知识和技能，具有一定的读、写、听、说能力，从而能借助词典阅读和翻译有关英语资料，在涉外交际的日常活动中进行简单的口头和书面交流，并为进一步提高英语交际能力打下基础。《考试大纲》规定的考试内容是：听力理解、语法结构、阅读理解、翻译（英译汉）和写作（或汉译英）。《基本要求》和《考试大纲》将教学与考试实行分级指导、分级要求和分级考试，充分考虑了目前高职高专学生的英语实际水平和需求。该教材以两个结合为指导，从打好基础和培养能力开始，循序渐进，由浅入深，最终达到高职高专教育英语课程的基本要求。 |
